Kick Shins

Barn Dance Band from Berkshire, UK

Kick Shins has been performing for many years.  We have played for almost any type of social event you can think of: birthday, wedding, anniversary, general social – and live on BBC Radio Berkshire at the Newbury County Show.  We are based in Reading, Berkshire but have played at gigs from London to Gloucester and Derby to Southampton, as well as in Normandy and Moissac in France and Skien in Norway.

Our roots are in English folk music – we originally grew out of Berkshire Bedlam Morris.  From those early days we have developed a far more driving and rocky style.

We cater for all size events, starting with a 4 piece band (including caller) up to 6 or more for very large events.

Come and join our celebrations on 7 November 2026.

As well as original band members several guests will be joining us for an eclectic mix of traditional music, traditional barn dances (with instruction to suit everyone from complete beginners to experienced pros), line dancing with instruction from a dancing professional, and cover music from the 60s to the 20s.

Bring your own picnic so that you can enjoy a food break whenever you like.

Tickets are only available on-line in advance. A secure payment page is on our sister site.

Thank you for a wonderful evening on Saturday. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much.

I wanted to say a massive thank you to you all for a fantastic party. You were all brilliant. One of my husband’s friends said it was the best party he has ever been to! He was dancing a lot with his wife and boys. I don’t think many of us had been to a barn dance before (I’ve only ever been to 1!) It was my husband’s first barn dance.
